15.01.2010 Evraz providing coal to the country


According to the disclosed performance data, in 2009, Evraz Group reduced steel production by 13.5 per cent against 2008 down to 15.285 m t, from a minimum of 6,8 per cent decline in commodity coke to a maximum of 86,7 per cent in commodity cast iron. On average, the fall was in the range of 17 to 20 per cent.

To be exact, Evraz Group produced 11.3 per cent less of rolled metal (14.3 m t), 33 per cent — of vanadium alloys (10.3 m t), 42.7 per cent — iron-ore agglomerate (4 m t). The drop in production at Russian and Ukrainian enterprises has been significantly lower than that of the European, American, and African holding’s enterprises.

Meanwhile the year saw some increase in production of coking coal (+13,6 per cent) up to 10.3 m t, steam coal concentrate (+30.2 per cent, 1 m t), iron ore concentrate (+56.2 per cent, 5.65 m t), pellets (+4 per cent, 5.52 m t), vanadium slag (+7.8 per cent, 11.87 m t).

Average 2009 price of products dropped 2 to 2.5x against 2008
