Mechel plans to buy three furnace blasts from Cosipar were announced by Interfax quoting Brazilian sources.
An informer close to Mechel specifies that the deal aims not at buying blasts but at establishing a joint venture, Cosipar contributing its blasts, and Mechel—its Mirsteel (U. K.), a plant bought out from Vadim Varshavskiy.
Neither Mechel nor Cosipar issue any comments, while Varshavskiy informs that Mirsteel remains in his possession.
The deal should add to creation of a production chain from Bluestone to Brazilian furnace blasts and further to Mirsteel.
