In the coming 5 years, China will purchase from Russia at least 15 m t annually, reaching 20-m-t of annual coal imports in the next 20 years.
Recently, China sought to increase its raw materials import from Mongolia and Australia to meet the long-term demand. In 2009, Russian export to the country increased 15 times reaching 12.09 m t (10 per cent of total Chinese coal import).
