07.12.2011 Steel forces coal price down


Coking coal is expected to fall in price by 5 to 15 per cent, experts hold.

Both demand and price for the commodity depend on situation in steel-making, which suffers hard times under the global economic instability.

Domestic price for coal tends to lag behind the world prices. A fortnight ago Australian FOB coal price was set as low as $234 to 253 per t.

In 4Q2011, Raspadskaya dropped its price for coking coal by the average of 3.6 per cent against 3Q2011, c 50 per cent of its output being pre-contracted to 02/01/2012, and the rest — to 12/31/2011, the company representative informs.
