28.02.2012 Global steel production drops by 7.8 per cent


In January, 117 m t of steel were produced, World Steel Association informs. Chinese steel-making dropped by 13 per cent down to 52.1 m t, Japanese—by 10.6 per cent to 8.6 m t, S.-Korean—by 9.6 per cent to 5.1 m t, German—by 8.5 per cent to 3.4 m t against Jan 2011.

In Italy, steel production rose by 4.6 per cent up to 2.2 m t, it also grew by 11.2 per cent in France to 1.4 m t, by 14.4 per cent in Turkey to 3.1 m t, by 5.7 per cent in the U. S.to 7.6 m t, and by .6 per cent in Brazil to 2.8 m t.

The global load of the industry reached 71.3 per cent of its capacity (–9.6 per cent).
