Ordinary shares of the company fell by 2.79 per cent down to 97.7 roubles per share while prefs sank by 3.91 per cent.

Mechel cheapened by 2½ times down to $1.4 bn since the beginning of the year approaching its record low worth of Jan 20, 2009.
