The 1.9-m-t concentrator was constructed in 1954. It had undergone a number of reconstructions increasing its annual capacity and hitting 3 m t at the end of the last century.
The sustainable output of Kirov mine reaching 4.5 m t annually made its owner, SUEK, to undertake the increase the concentrator capacity.
The 2.3-bn-roubles second stage was laid in 2010.
